A NEW chief executive will be appointed to run South Huddersfield Primary Care Trust - despite rumours of a merger.

Judith Holbrey, the first chief executive to run the GP and nurse- led organisation, resigned this year.

Members of Huddersfield Central PCT are seeking to merge with colleagues in South Huddersfield to create one organisation.

But members of South Huddersfield PCT want to stay independent.

And Mr John Chilton, chairman of South Huddersfield PCT, said a new chief executive would be appointed.

He said: "We have to go through an evaluation of the options for the south Huddersfield area. We are going to complete it before we start to recruit for a chief executive.

"Obviously we do not want candidates to be put off by the uncertainty," added Mr Chilton.
