A FORMER police station has a new owner.
Lockwood police station at the bottom of Lockwood Scar is the new home for an electrical firm already based in the area.
Fern Electrical Ltd has applied to Kirklees Council to extend the former station and transform it into an office and storeroom.
The company was set up more than 20 years by Linthwaite man Andy Markowycz and was based first on Old Leeds Road, Huddersfield.
Since 2002 the firm has been at a building on the Park Gear Works site on Park Road in Lockwood.
Mr Markowycz, 44, was brought up in Lockwood and attended Moor End Technology College.
His mum, Stephania, still lives in the area.
He said: “It’s great the company is staying in the area.”
The company does industrial, commercial and domestic electrical work.
Mr Markowycz employs four electricians and needs a further two highly skilled electricians to complete his team.
Kirklees planners will have the final say over the application.
