PLANNERS will tomorrow visit an historic dyehouse, which developers hope to convert into homes.

Huddersfield architects One 17AD want to turn the former industrial buildings and stables at Tolson Farm, off Armitage Road, Armitage Bridge, into six houses.

Members of Kirklees Council's planning sub-committee were asked by worried residents to have a look at the proposed site for themselves.

Plans for a similar scheme were submitted earlier in the year but have now been revised.

The new homes would be built on three levels in a development which has been accepted in principle by council officers.

The site is within the Green Belt and wildlife corridor, forming part of the Armitage Bridge conservation area.

Twelve householders living nearby wrote to the council highlighting their worries over the proposals, including the risk of flooding from Dean Brook, access problems, loss of a footpath and loss of trees.
