YELLOW planning notices on lamp-posts are to stay.

Kirklees Council has confirmed that planning applications will continue to be advertised on site by means of a site notice.

The announcement follows reports that they were to be discontinued as a cost-saving exercise by the Planning and Building Control Service.

Clr Christine Stanfield, Joint Cabinet Member for Regeneration, Environment and Transport, said: “We recognise that the yellow boards have become the accepted way of letting people know about planning applications in their area, and that although savings have to be made they should not be discontinued.

“I am confident that the site notice service can be maintained whilst still making savings, and this is currently being discussed with the Head of Planning and Building Control.”
