LAND where a care home was due to be built has been listed for sale by its owner.
The former Ellwood Care Home on Bracken Road in Brighouse was demolished after a planning application was approved to build a new one last year.
But the site is now for sale with offers invited in the region of £750,000.
Property agents DC Care say the former care home was demolished with no progress on the construction of the four-storey 60 bed care home.
It still has existing planning permission for a care home which was approved in March 2009 for new owners Sandstone & Wren LLP. It remains in place for a further two years.
The former site had been in use since 1982 as a care home, but the old Victorian building had already been vacated and was boarded up by the time the applicant was granted planning permission last March.
It is not known why the land has since been put up for sale, nor if the owner will sell the 1.81 acre site for other use.
DC Care did not respond to repeated requests from the Examiner for further details relating to reasons for its sale.
