A DILAPIDATED bus shelter in Marsden is to be replaced.

Teenagers have used the shelter on Dirker Drive to meet in, annoying local people.

Because of this, the replacement shelter may be put in a different place. But no decision has yet been made.

Some residents wanted the shelter scrapped. But bus users wanted it to remain.

Mrs Dorothy Lindley, chairman of Marsden Enhancement and Residents' Society, said: "I shall be pleased if it gets moved.

"Some people just want it down, because youths congregate there.

"But it is nice to be able to shelter if you are catching a bus in the rain."

Mrs Lindley said residents had suffered badly from the teenagers' anti- social behaviour.

She hoped a young people's shelter to be built near the Standedge visitor centre would ease the problem of youths meeting in the bus shelter.
