PLANS for a 60-bed care home in Mirfield have been submitted to Kirklees Council.

An revised application for the home has been submitted for land at Chadwick Fold Lane, Lower Hopton.

A previous application by Hopton Care Cottages Ltd for the site was withdrawn on December 18 last year.

But the company has revised the plans.

They want a residential care home with 60 beds, three communal areas and associated administrative areas.

There will also be external courtyards and landscaping around the site.

The area earmarked for the care home is brownfield land and was previously mills and workshops in the early 1900s.

Until 2005 it was a haulage yard and vehicle storage site.

The mills were demolished in 2006 and the area was flattened and grassed over.

Members of the public can comment on the plans on the council website.
