PLANS for the future of the Yorkshire region come under the spotlight in Huddersfield tomorrow.

Its development agency Yorkshire Forward is hosting its annual Shaping The Agenda event at the Cedar Court Hotel, Ainley Top.

More than 180 of the region's key decision- makers will participate in a series of workshops themed around six objectives in a regional economic strategy.

They include growing the region's businesses, achieving higher business birth and survival rates, attracting and retaining more private and public investment and radically improving the development and application of education, learning and skills.

Yorkshire Forward chairman Terry Hodgkinson will welcome delegates to the event that will feature a keynote address from a senior Cabinet Minister.

Contributions will also be made by Peter Box, chairman of strategic partnership the Yorkshire and Humber Assembly, Liberal Democrat Treasury spokesman Lord Newby and former Chief Economic Advisor to the Treasury Ed Balls.
