NEW services are being provided from Holme Valley Memorial Hospital day surgery unit, Holmfirth, and Moorfields Primary Care Centre, Crosland Moor.

Dr Colin Wright, a GP with a special interest in plastic surgery, is holding two plastic surgery sessions a fortnight at Holme Valley Memorial Hospital.

Patients can have lesions of the face, moles and cysts surgically removed in the specialised surroundings of the £750,000 day surgery unit.

Dr Wright said: "There are many benefits for patients. Coming to a unit in a community setting is far less stressful experience for patients than attending a busy acute hospital."

Dr James Ward, a GP with a special interest in neurology, is holding weekly clinics at Holme Valley Memorial Hospital and the Moorfields Primary Care Centre in Crosland Moor.

They are for the diagnosis and treatment patients with neurological disorders, including headaches.

Dr Ward said: "Headaches can be very debilitating and patients are often worried about serious underlying problems.

"We consider each person as a whole, as well as considering physical symptoms."
