SCHOOL pupils are being entertained and educated by a play highlighting the dangers of drugs.

All primary and middle schools in Kirklees will be visited by the "Up To YOU" show performed by Figment Theatre.

Developed in partnership with Kirklees LEA, the show features a 25 minute play and a 95 minute interactive workshop and examines issues including peer encouragement, risks and consequences.

A performance featuring four young people whose ambitions are thwarted by drug taking introduces the concept of substance misuse as an obstacle to fulfilling ambitions.

In follow up workshops, pupils' detective skills are honed as they set out to find out about solvents, investigate a `crime' involving alcohol abuse and play a variety of `games' designed to raise awareness around the drugs issue.

The production, which began in February, will have toured all 130 schools by mid-July.
