A YOUNG rugby player was airlifted to hospital after being injured in a game at Holmfirth.

But fears that the boy was seriously hurt have proved unfounded.

The boy, who has not been named, was taking part in a game at Holmfirth High School when he was injured.

An ambulance crew was called to the school yesterday lunchtime and the paramedics asked for the Yorkshire Air Ambulance.

The boy was flown to Huddersfield Royal Infirmary for treatment.

A school spokesman said: "It turned out not to be serious."
