A FUNDRAISING drive has started to bring in the £80,000 needed for a new Shepley Pre-School Playgroup building.

Organisers began their efforts after deciding that their old portable building was no longer suitable.

They want to replace the building on its existing site at Shepley First School.

The premises are also used by an out-of-school club.

Helen Mackey-Brown, the pre-school group's chairman, said: "The building is now sufficiently old for there to be a real risk that if nothing is done then at some point we will be unable to continue to operate from there.

"This could mean that Shepley and the surrounding districts are left very short of nursery places and with gaps in out-of-school care."
