CHILDREN are celebrating the opening of a new playgroup building and play area.
Staff and parents at Shepley Pre-school Playgroup have been raising cash for the work for three years.
Spokeswoman Helen Mackey-Bowen is delighted with it.
She said: “Our old building was cold, leaky and damp and the floor was rotten.
“The new building is bright, warm, welcoming and safe. It has the added benefit of a refurbished outdoor area where the children can play safely and enjoy the environment.’’
“It’s important to have something for everyone.”
Fundraising by parents and staff raised part of the £90,000 cost, with Kirklees Council and local firms contributing the rest.
