A CHARITY is urging walkers to sign up for the Yorkshire Three Peaks Challenge.

The big walk starts from Horton in Ribblesdale and takes walkers over Pen-y-Ghent, Whernside and Ingleborough.

Walkers will trek 26 miles and it will be an all-day event.

The challenge, organised by Marie Curie Cancer Care, is a very popular event.

Last year 350 people took part and raised more than £70,000 for cancer patients.

This year people are already registering to take part and numbers are approaching the 400 limit.

Brian Curran, community fundraising manager, said: "More and more people want to do this walk and places are limited.

"So it is recommended to book now to avoid disappointment."

Mr Curran added: "This is a fantastic challenge.

"Most people feel a huge sense of achievement when they have finished."

The money raised will help the charity's specialist nurses to provide care and support for patients and families and carers living with cancer in West Yorkshire.

The challenge has been organised for Saturday July 7.

People interested should phone Mr Curran on 0113 214 7905.
