VOLUNTEERS are wanted to help build a walkway at Oakwell Country Park.

Ranger Patrick Crowley is hoping would-be Bob the Builders can help him fix the new raised walkway in the country park around Oakwell Hall museum in Birstall.

The 40m walkway has been constructed as part of a project to create a wetland – but it can’t be opened to the public until over 2000 screws have been put in place to make it secure and safe.

The wheelchair accessible walkway, which will allow visitors to the country park to enjoy the view over the new wetland area, is made from recycled plastic ‘planks’ on oak uprights and has handrails and oak seats. All that remains to be done to complete the walkway is to fix the planks to the frame.

The Work Day is on Wednesday from 10.30am.
