A GOLCAR poet is set to launch his first collection of work on Saturday .

Adam Strickson will launch his book of poetry, An Indian Rug Surprised By Snow, at the Theatre In The Mill, Bradford.

Mr Strickson, of Wellhouse, has been a full-time playwright and poet for two years.

Previously, he was director of Batley's multicultural performing arts company Chol Theatre.

He received £4,977 from the Arts Council in September to produce his first poetry collection.

The book explores the diversity of cultures in West Yorkshire, focusing on Mr Strickson's encounters with the Asian community and refugees during his 19 years living in Huddersfield.

It is being published by Hull-based company Wrecking Ball Press.
