LOCAL poets Julia Deakin and Jo Haslam are taking part in a poetry reading from their new collections tonight at Huddersfield Library.
The event runs between 7pm and 8.30pm.
Julia Deakin lives in Huddersfield and works in Bradford. The Half-Mile-High Club was a Poetry Business competition winner and her first collection, Without a Dog (Graft 2008) impressed both Anne Stevenson and Simon Armitage.
The other participant is Jo Haslam and her new book ‘On the Kiso Road’ won the Straid Award for a collection of poems this year and is published by Templar press.
Her poem ‘Wish’ won second prize in the 2010 National Poetry Competition.
