A CAR dealership in Huddersfield is driving ahead for charity.

Polar Ford, based at St Andrew’s Road, is backing the Junior Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF) and has pledged to raise funds for the cause between now and the new year.

The move comes after Ford of Britain challenged its entire UK dealer network to help raise £100,000 for the charity as part of the company’s 100th year in Britain celebrations.

Polar Ford is currently developing a “hunks” calendar to sell at Christmas, featuring employees at all 12 of its dealerships.

Type 1 diabetes affects about 350,000 people in the UK, including more than 26,000 children who require multiple daily insulin injections and finger-prick blood tests.

The condition can cause devastating complications, including blindness, heart disease, amputation, stroke and kidney failure and reduces life expectancy by about 20 years.
