CHRISTMAS came early for disadvantaged children – thanks to the generosity of Huddersfield people.
Customers of car dealershop Polar Ford dropped off shoeboxes filled with presents as part of the Operation Christmas Child appeal.
More than 8,000 boxes were collected by the dealership at St Andrew’s Road, Bradley Mills, and other Ford Retail outlets across the UK.
Polar Ford acted as a collection point for the appeal run by the Christian charity, Samaritan’s Purse, which brings gifts to children in hospitals, orphanages, refugee camps, homeless shelters and poor neighbourhoods in some of the world’s poorest countries.
Mark Knapton, general manager at Polar Ford, said: “This is the sixth year that we have taken part in this appeal and we are delighted that we could help bring a little bit of extra happiness to so many children.
“It’s such a great cause and we would like to thank everyone who donated a shoebox and made this year a success.”
