POLICE say they are “extremely concerned” about a Huddersfield man who has gone missing from his Dalton home for over a month and is now thought to be sleeping rough.

Alan Holt (pictured), suffers from mental health problems and is believed to be sleeping rough in the Mirfield area.

Police have been looking for the 40-year-old since he was reported missing on October 2. He was last seen on September 27 at his home on Albany Road.

Initial enquiries had led officers to believe he was sleeping rough in the area near the Snooty Fox public house near Kirkgate, Wakefield.

There was a sighting of him on the Greenway near Mirfield on Sunday morning though, which has switched the hunt for him back to Kirklees, Mirfield, Dalton and Almondbury areas.

Insp Steph Wiseman from West Yorkshire Police said: “Alan suffers from mental health problems and has not had any medication for over a month now so we are extremely concerned for his welfare.

“Information that officers have picked up from people around Mirfield leads us to believe that he is back in the area so I am urgently appealing for anyone who sees Alan to contact us immediately and not to wait until they see an officer on patrol.

“The weather is turning colder and wetter and we really need to trace Alan before he comes to any harm.’’

Alan is 5ft 8ins tall and has a tattoo on his left shoulder that reads: ‘On Fire’.
