A MAN received serious head injuries after an attack outside a Heckmondwike school.

The man, in his early 20s, was attacked by two other men around 6.30pm on Monday outside Heckmondwike Grammar School's main gates on High Street.

The victim sustained serious head and hand injuries.

He was taken to Dewsbury District Hospital, then transferred to Pinderfields, Wakefield, where he is in a comfortable condition.

Police are appealing for information concerning the attack and are asking anyone who may have been in the area at the time of the incident, or who may have information that could help the inquiry, to contact Dewsbury Police CID on 01924 431085.

Four men were arrested in connection with the incident.

Three, in their early 20s, have been released without charge.

The fourth, aged 25, has been charged with robbery and will be appearing before Dewsbury magistrates today.
