A BOY was taken to hospital after he was involved in an accident with a car as he rode his bike in Brighouse.

The 13-year-old was in collision with a silver Ford Focus as he cycled with his brother and a teenage friend on Smith House Lane at 6.30pm on Friday.

The driver of the car, possibly an estate model, stopped at the scene and spoke to the teenager and he was initially thought to be all right.

The driver left the scene of the accident and the boy went home.

But the teenager was later admitted to Calderdale Royal Infirmary with serious leg and arm injuries.

He has since been discharged from hospital.

West Yorkshire Police is now appealing for the driver of the Ford Focus and any witnesses to the collision to come forward.

Anyone with information should contact Pc Pickard at the Western Area Roads Policing Unit via 101, the new non-emergency number.
