POLICE in Kirklees are appealing for victims and witnesses of a callous burglar to come forward.

A 31-year old man is awaiting trial for two burglaries and two deceptions that have taken place in the Dewsbury and Heckmondwike areas during February and March this year.

But detectives believe that there are other victims out there who may not have reported crimes to the police.

In all of the crimes reported, elderly or vulnerable victims have been approached at their homes by a man offering tobacco and alcohol products for sale.

The victims have given the suspect money and been told that he would return with the goods later in the day.

The victims, however, never received any products in return.

The crimes have taken place at two homes on Northstead, Ravensthorpe, on February 26 and 27, St James Street, Heckmondwike, on March 4, and Goose Hill, Heckmondwike, on March 11.

Victims of similar crimes should contact PC Jim Calpin on 01484 436526.
