Police have arrested three men following a high-speed chase through Mirfield today.

Kirklees councillor Martyn Bolt was out cycling and saw the incident.

He said up to 12 police vehicles sped past him at about 2.30pm near the Pear Tree pub in Mirfield, followed by the West Yorkshire Police helicopter.

They came across the bridge over the river and went down Huddersfield Road before bringing the Toyota Yaris to a stop outside John Cotton’s factory.

He said: “The police handled it in a very professional, safe and capable manner and the car was stopped with as little danger to the public as possible.”

Det Insp Seth Robinson of Kirklees CID said: “Three men have been arrested for drug-related matters and failing to stop when asked to do so by police.”
