THREE suspects linked to a string of burglaries were chased by police yesterday, resulting in two arrests.

Earlier witnesses alerted police when they saw an Audi screech to a halt in Town Ing Way, Stainland, before the three men got out and ran across fields.

Multiple police units responded at 3.10pm and searched surrounding villages and arrested two men before the search spread to near New Hey Road, Outlane.

Residents and drinkers at the Swan Inn in New Hey Road told how the road was flooded with police and the helicopter was seen hovering over gardens and houses.

The police dog unit was also tasked to help in the search.

A West Yorkshire Police spokesman said last night: “Police responding to reports of a burglary in Stainland at 3.10pm saw three people running away over fields and chased them.

“Two were caught and arrested and there was then a search in Outlane which also involved the police helicopter.”

He confirmed the men were all suspects in connection with at least three burglaries in the Halifax area including one in Ravenstone Drive, Greetland.
