SPECIALIST police teams continued the search for a missing Huddersfield pensioner over the weekend.

Bernard Hallas (pictured), 84, of Bradley, went missing after catching a bus in his pyjamas last Tuesday. Despite several appeals no new sightings have been reported.

Det Sgt Nigel Gittins, of Kirklees CID, said specialist police search teams had been out over the weekend.

He said searches were carried out in and around Huddersfield town centre.

The searches included secluded alleyways, outbuildings and wheelie bins.

Officers were also viewing more CCTV images from other town centre and edge-of-town cameras.

Mr Hallas, a grandfather of 10, caught a bus wearing a coat over his night clothes. He boarded a bus from Bradley to Huddersfield at 8.20pm on Tuesday.

He arrived in town and then caught another bus to Marsden. At the end of the route, the bus returned to Huddersfield with Mr Hallas still on board.

He was last seen on CCTV at around 11pm in Wakefield Road, Aspley.

Mr Hallas suffers from several medical conditions and needs regular medication. He had no drugs with him.

Mr Hallas’s daughter Andrea Gill made an emotional plea for him to come home for Christmas with his family.

She said: “We just want you to come home, dad, so we know you are safe. We won’t be able to enjoy Christmas if he isn’t with us,” she added.

Anyone who sees Mr Hallas should call police as an emergency on 999.
