Police have launched an investigation into the death of a man at a flat in Holmfirth.

The 26-year-old was pronounced dead after officers attended the property on Upperthong Lane at 8.14am.

There are not thought to be any suspicious circumstances and the man's family have been informed.

The case has been passed onto the coroner.

Neighbours spotted a large number of emergency vehicles on the quiet lane, on the edge of Holmfirth village centre, this morning.

A police spokesperson said: "Officers attended an address on Upperthong Lane in Holmfirth at 8:14 this morning.

"A 26-year-old man was pronounced deceased at the property.

"There are not thought to be any suspicious circumstances and enquiries are ongoing to establish the circumstances.

"A file has been passed to the coroner."

Police have confirmed the man has died

Police have now confirmed that the man found in a serious condition this morning has died.

Officers said the man, 26, was pronounced dead at a property on Upperthong Lane at Holmfirth.

A West Yorkshire Police spokesman said: “There are not thought to be any suspicious circumstances and enquiries are ongoing to establish the circumstances.

A file has been passed to the coroner.”

It says:

Police were called at 08:14am this morning to reports that a 27 year old man had been found in a serious condition at an address on Upperthong Lane in Holmfirth.

Ambulance crews were called to the scene and enquiries are currently ongoing to establish the nature of the incident.
