A body of a man was found on a Huddersfield golf course.

A 50-year-old man was discovered on the Longley Park Golf Course at Aspley just after midnight on Friday.

A police spokesman said a dog walker had made the grim discovery while on a late night walk across the course.

Police believe the man may have taken his own life.

Detective Inspector Andy Parr of Kirklees CID described the incident as a "sudden death" but said it was not suspicious.

He added: "We are liaising with the coroner and our enquiries are ongoing."
