A stolen car was burned out in Huddersfield.

Police were called to woodland in Grange Moor on Saturday after the car was spotted on fire in woods.

Firefighters were called out to the scene but the car was destroyed.

A spokesman for Kirklees Rural Neighbourhood Policing team said: “The remains of this Audi were found at Grange Moor, near to the National Coal Mining Museum in Wakefield Road.

“The car’s Vehicle Identification Number was eventually discovered under the soot and once checked, revealed the car was stolen.

The car was later removed on the back of a breakdown recovery truck.

Police investigations are continuing.
