POLICE arrested 11 people during raids at two Berry Brow blocks of flats.

Three of those were remanded in custody and the other eight were given bail, pending further inquiries.

Police are investigating crimes including burglaries and drugs offences.

Other people netted in the dawn visits by more than 20 officers at Holme Park Court and Bishop's Court, off Woodhead Road, faced court warrants and public order offences.

In total, 19 suspects have been arrested in two large- scale police operations at the flats over the past month.

Det Con Peter Usher, who co-ordinated both raids, said they had been very successful.

He added: "We have had some extremely good arrests for offences people are concerned about, like drugs and burglary."

Officers mounted another operation at Berry Brow yesterday, checking 4,600 vehicles in Woodhead Road.

They stopped 50 drivers for alleged motoring offences.
