Police are aiming to solve the mystery of some lost valuables.

A black purse crammed with valuable items was found two months ago in Hall Bower Lane, Newsome – but the owner hasn’t come forward.

A till receipt from the Asda store in Bradford Road, Brackenhall, has led to police releasing closed circuit television images of a couple who may be able to help.

Pc Craig Taylor, of Huddersfield road traffic department, stressed the couple pictured weren’t in trouble but could solve the mystery.

Pc Taylor said: “A receipt from Asda is the last remaining piece in the puzzle and police think this couple who are seen shopping in the same supermarket may know who the purse belongs to.

“We have tried everything we can but to no avail. I would like the couple in the picture to call me to see if they know anything.

“I must stress they are not in any way suspects. We would just like them to call us so we can return this property to its rightful owner.”

Anyone with information should ring Pc Taylor on 101.
