THE hunt for a man suspected of knowingly infecting his lover with HIV has switched to Huddersfield.

Jamaican-born Jermaine Scott, 27, is believed to have lived in the UK for the past 10 years, has links to Merseyside, Wolverhampton and London as well as Huddersfield.

Detectives took the unusual step of naming him as they believe he is a man who can be dangerous to his lovers.

Scott is wanted in relation to an alleged assault on a woman in Runcorn, Cheshire.

A Cheshire police spokeswoman said: "It is not believed that Scott poses a risk to the public as a whole.

"However there is potential for risk of harm to those in a relationship with him."

"Detectives advise that any sightings be reported to police so the information can be acted upon.

"Additionally, we appeal to Scott himself to come forward and present himself at his nearest police station."

Anyone who knowingly infects another person with HIV can be charged with Grievous Bodily Harm.

Scott’s ex, a mum-of-two from Cheshire, decided to make the complaint because she is worried that Scott could put other women at risk.

The young mum is being supported by members of her family and close friends, but is said to have endured taunts from former associates.
