A YOUNG mother critically hurt in a crash is thought to have had a row with her boyfriend moments earlier.

Police have now appealed for Victoria Waddington's boyfriend to contact them as she fights for her life in a hospital intensive care unit.

Victoria, 23, of Rastrick, has a two-year-old son, Aaron, and works at Barclays Bank in Huddersfield. She and 25-year-old boyfriend Safraz Hussain, of Huddersfield, are thought to have had an argument on Saturday night.

She drove off in his Volkswagen Golf, but crashed into a wall in Birdcage Lane, Savile Park, Halifax, at its junction with Kensington Road, at 8pm.

She was taken to Calderdale Royal Hospital with serious head and internal injuries and then transferred to Leeds General Infirmary, where she remains critically ill.

Victoria's mother, 45-year-old Julie Waddington, believes Mr Hussain was giving Victoria a driving lesson when the row started.

Mrs Waddington said: "Medical staff say she is very poorly and for us to take it hour by hour and day by day.

"I feel shattered. You read about these things, but you don't think you will look at your own child lying in a hospital bed like that."
