Five men have been held by police investigating an attack in Batley.

All have been arrested in the town hours after a man was beaten by a gang in what police termed a “targeted attack”.

The man was attacked as he was a passenger in a taxi which was forced to stop when it was rammed by another vehicle.

The pick-up truck involved was later found burned out.

Police are still appealing for information into what they describe as a targeted assault, which happened at 7.20pm on Tuesday in Field Lane, Batley.

Anyone with information should contact Kirklees CID via 101.
