A 16-year-old boy who climbed onto a freight train and died after touching overhead power cables has been named.

Kyle Bradley, from Wrenthorpe, Wakefield, was with another 16-year-old and a girl aged 18, when the tragedy happened.

Kyle died after apparently being electrocuted at the Wrenthorpe Sidings in Wakefield at 6.40pm yesterday (Sat).

British Transport Police are investigating the circumstances and Kyle’s family have appealed for privacy.

A police spokesman said: “Enquiries are continuing to establish the full circumstances of Kyle’s death.

“At this stage it would appear he had climbed on to a freight train and came in to contact with the power lines.

“His death is not being treated as suspicious and a file will be prepared for the local coroner.”

The two other teenagers, who have not been named, were taken to Pinderfields Hospital at Wakefield. They were released following treatment.

The Office of Rail Regulation has been informed and will carry out its own investigation.
