POLICE are still appealing for witnesses in connection with the attempted abduction of a girl in Newsome.

The six-year-old was approached by a man as she played near woodland by Roger Lane, at 8pm on Sunday evening.

A 23-year-old man has been interviewed by police, having been arrested in Almondbury yesterday. He has been released on bail.

But Det Insp Steve Hepplestone said: "We are keeping an open mind.

"Anyone who saw anything suspicious on Sunday evening should still contact us.

"We have procedures to go through in relation to the person arrested.

"Until they are complete we cannot eliminate him.

"We very much want anyone else to come forward with information."
