Police have sealed off Swan Lane, Lockwood, following reports of a robbery.
And there were unconfirmed reports from people in the area that a gunshot was heard.
Police vans are parked up just yards from the traffic lights on Lockwood Road and near to Jack Pearson bookies.
A large area has been sealed off with blue and white police tape with vehicles having to find alternative routes on what is a key road through the area to Crosland Moor.
It is believed police were called to the scene on Tuesday evening.
West Yorkshire Police have yet to comment.
