A SPECIAL police squad which deals with serious crime across West Yorkshire has notched up 60 arrests over the last six months.
The arrests have led to the criminals getting sentences totalling 350 years in prison.
The 60 arrests – all made during the period April to September of this year – ended in convictions for a wide range of serious offences including drugs, possessing firearms, robbery, forgery and rape.
Chief Supt Max McLean, Head of Crime Division, said: “Much of Crime Division’s work is necessarily not in the public eye. However, I really want the public of West Yorkshire to know that we are constantly monitoring serious and organised criminals and those who prey on the vulnerable and that further arrests and convictions are just around the corner.
“These incredible half-year results are a real credit to the detectives under my command striving to protect our communities from criminals operating at this level.”
The Crime Division is a specialist unit that concentrates on serious and organised crime ranging from high technology crime to child and public protection.
