POLICE have raided a mansion at the heart of a bitter planning row.

The £1m house on Huddersfield Road at Mirfield was one of a number of properties searched by police teams investigating money-laundering.

The house is the home of car wash owner Azam Yaqoob.

He successfully fought a Kirklees Council order to tear down the house after claims that it broke planning regulations.

Now he is believed to have been one of the people questioned by the Serious Organised Crime Agency.

Two other men, aged 33 and 46, were arrested in Dewsbury, but Mr Yaqoob was not held.

He runs the Mr Sparkles car wash in Dewsbury.

Other homes owned by Mr Yaqoob's family in Ravensthorpe and Dewsbury were searched.

Police also raided a number of other homes and businesses in the Dewsbury area.

Detectives investigating an alleged money-laundering operation detained a number of men in raids across Yorkshire.

They seized almost £350,000 at one house and also confiscated cars, including a BMW, a Mercedes and a Volvo. The inquiry is still under way and no-one has yet been charged.
