They are all distinctive items of jewellery – and police believe they are all stolen.

The haul was discovered when police found a VW Passat on August 29 which they believe had been used in a burglary in Birkby.

But they think the items were stolen during burglaries or even robberies and now they are anxious for anyone who recognises them to come forward.

The items, which will be of great sentimental value to people as well as their monetary worth, include men’s and ladies watches as well as a ring and a bracelet.

Pc Richard Shires from Kirklees Burglary Team said: “Being the victim of a burglary is an awful experience and I would like to try and mitigate that slightly by getting these items back to their rightful owners.”

Anyone recognising the items is asked to phone Pc Shires at Kirklees Burglary Team 3 on 101.
