A MAN arrested in connection with a woman’s death has been released from custody.

The 44-year-old man was held by police following the unexplained death of Paula Lewis, 42, of Chapel Close, Holywell Green on Monday.

But a post mortem has revealed her death is consistent with a fall and the man has been released.

Ms Lewis was found at the bottom of the stairs of her terraced home.

Police were called after the man alerted a neighbour.

Officers sealed off the property and scenes of crimes officers and Detective Supt Mark Ridley, of the Homicide and Major Inquiry Team, was drafted in to lead the investigation.

But the pathologist who carried out the post mortem says there are no longer suspicious circumstances surrounding Ms Lewis’ death.

Her fatal injuries are consistent with a fall, police said.

The case has been passed to the Calderdale coroner and an inquest into the death is expected to take place.
