CRIME across Kirklees has fallen significantly, according to statistics.
Between April 1 last year and January 9 this year, police recorded 24,398 offences – 1,517 fewer than the same period for the previous financial year.
Supt Mick Wharton, in charge of partnerships and neighbourhood policing in Kirklees, said: “It’s a fantastically good news story, in that there are thousands fewer victims of crime than we were seeing a few years ago.”
The figures follow a significant drop in crime last year. In 2009-10 there were about 3,800 fewer crimes than the previous year.
