Police sealed off the main road into Brighouse after a pile-up.

Several vehicles are thought to have been involved in the smash on Huddersfield Road between Bradley Bar roundabout and Brighouse at 6.30pm yesterday.

Police have given few details about what happened but confirmed that one of the vehicles had overturned.

A West Yorkshire Police spokesman said: “There are police and ambulances at the scene.”

The police helicopter flew low over the scene at around 7.40pm and was then hovering for a while.

Metro put out information via social media that the road was closed stating: “Service 363 X6 affected by accident at Bradley Bar.”

Surrounding roads quickly became choked with traffic.
