POLICE are trying to trace a Huddersfield couple who took a taxi cab from Leeds.

They want to reunite them with hundreds of pounds worth of property they left behind in the cab. The man and woman got a black and white hackney cab in Leeds city centre about 9.30pm on Friday night and asked to be taken to Huddersfield.

They directed the driver to a house on the edge of town, surrounded by countryside, and got out – leaving behind goods they had put in the boot.

The taxi driver reported the matter to police.

A police spokesman urged the couple to ring 0113 241 3020 to claim the property.
