A POLICE helicopter swooped over the Colne Valley after a raid at a supermarket early today.

Intruders smashed the front window at the Co-op store on Town End, clambered in and grabbed bottles of booze from the shelves behind the counter.

They escaped back through the shattered window and fled down the road towards Cliffe Ash at 1.10am today.

The helicopter flew over the area using its powerful searchlight, but the thieves had vanished.

One is white, in his early 20s and slim.

He wore a light blue hooded top with a dark blue stripe on it, faded jeans and grey trainers.

His accomplice is also white and had a scarf covering his face.
