Detectives have made a new appeal for help following a violent altercation and other incidents in the Alder Street area of Huddersfield.

They want to know exactly what happened in the early hours of Sunday morning.

Police received a number of calls shortly after midnight reporting that a group of men had smashed the window of a blue Renault Scenic parked up in Alder Street and assaulted a number of people in the vehicle.

The driver of the Renault managed to drive off but then collided with two parked vehicles in Blacker Road.

The victims of the assault have not come forward to the police and officers want them to make contact.

Det Insp Ian Mottershaw of Kirklees CID said: “While we have spoken to a number of witnesses, we have not yet had any contact from the reported victims and therefore have not been able to confirm the level of injuries they sustained and whether they are okay.

“We would urge these people to come forward as a matter of urgency.

“We are also keen to speak to anyone else who has witnessed any part of this incident, including the events building up to or following the assault or subsequent collisions.

“Anyone with information is asked to call Kirklees District CID via 101 or independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.”
