Police have seized copies of the Big Issue from a potentially bogus seller.

Officers from Kirklees Rural seized 31 copies of The Big Issue magazine on Saturday from a man selling them in Holmfirth.

They say the man was not a registered Big Issue seller and did not have any ID.

Police are not entirely sure where his copies have come from.

A police spokeswoman said: “The female who sells The Big Issue in Holmfirth is a legitimate seller and wears visible ID to show this. She has understandably been most upset about this male.

“If you are a regular Big Issue buyer please continue to support this fab organisation but make sure the seller has photo ID. Genuine sellers will be happy to show you.

“We have been in touch with The Big Issue and they will be investigating.”
