TWO young Huddersfield men have been arrested in a drugs operation.

Police have revealed that the arrests - for serious drugs offences - followed tip-offs from the public.

Police from the Kirklees District Drugs Team carried out the operation in Mirfield on Wednesday afternoon.

Two 19-year-old men - one from Milnsbridge and the other from Dalton - were arrested and an amount of heroin and what is believed to be crack cocaine was seized.

A 17-year-old woman from Milnsbridge was later arrested in connection with the seizure. She was questioned by police and released on bail pending further inquiries.

The two men were charged in connection with supplying controlled drugs and drugs trafficking offences. They appeared at Dewsbury Magistrates' Court yesterday and were remanded in custody.

Det Insp John Gilbody, head of the district drugs team, said: "This shows our continued commitment to working with the community to arrest those we suspect of dealing drugs on the streets of Kirklees."

He added: "The operation was again a direct result of information provided to the Crimestoppers Dob in a Dealer hotline."
