TWO people were arrested in a drugs swoop in a rural Huddersfield area.

Specialist anti-drugs police stopped a car in Scissett on Friday and searched it.

They found what is thought to be the class A drugs cocaine and ecstasy.

They arrested a 27-year-old man and a girl of 17 on suspicion of drug offences.

The officers - from the Kirklees District Drugs Team - then searched a house in the Emley area, using a specialist drugs dog.

More of what are thought to be class A drugs were found, along with a substantial amount of cash.

The couple were later released on police bail, pending further inquiries.

Det Insp Mick Turner, of the drugs team, said: "We are out every day targeting people suspected of being involved in illegal drugs. We rely very heavily on information coming to us from the public.

"I'm pleased to say their support has been excellent.

"I would urge people to continue ringing us. Together we can tackle the scourge of drugs and bring the people who profit from them to justice."
