POLICE are investigating a spate of thefts from homes in the Spen Valley.

And they have been left with a number puzzle – just who owns the metal door number plaques they have recovered?

Police arrested a 33-year old Rochdale man on suspicion of theft after he was found on Springbank Drive, Norristhorpe.

The man was charged with theft and will appear at Dewsbury Magistrates on January 17.

Officers recovered a number of metal plaques but now want to find houses that have had plaques stolen. The Spen Neighbourhood Policing Team (NPT) are now appealing for anyone who may have been a victim of this type of crime to contact them. They want to find the owners of house number plaques with the numbers 5, 8, 9, 13, 15, 17, 18, 22, 26, 25, 27, 28 and 37.

The streets of the targeted properties are not known, but could be from anywhere in the Norristhorpe, Liversedge, Hightown or Cleckheaton areas.

Anyone who has been a victim of this type of theft should contact PCSO Carrie-Ann Lee at the Spen NPT by phoning 101.
